Kick Off 2012 Right

A new year begins this Sunday. Let's kick off the New Year with a bang.

How are you going to spend this year? What are your goals? What do you want to accomplish? How much are you going to grow?

If you're like me, January 1 is always a big day with big plans. But about January 10 those plans start to falter. Let's start this year with a better plan. This Sunday we'll look at the important keys of Christian time management. How we spend our time today will impact our eternity. How can we make sure we use today's time the wisest way? Be at the Brownsburg Church of Christ this Sunday at 10:30 AM to find out how to make the most of your Time and Eternity.

Worshiping by Faith

Sunday, December 11 we will be continuing our exploration of being saved by faith, our annual theme. This Sunday's lesson is "Worshiping by Faith."

We'll examine the difference between Abel's worship and Cain's as seen through Genesis 4:3-5 and Hebrews 11:4, 6.

God reveals that we can't just worship Him any old way we want. We must worship Him by faith. Then He will accept our gifts and commend us as righteous.

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am to learn what it means to worship God by faith.

Discipleship lesson from Luke 6:12-16

In Luke 6:12-16, Jesus spent the night in prayer, preparing to choose a handful of men to train as leaders. Do you ever read that list and wonder, “Why on earth did Jesus pick that guy?”

Join us Sunday evening (December 4) at 5:00 PM to examine the list of men Jesus chose and uncover lessons about discipleship in a sermon from God’s Word.

Bible Drill Kicks Off Again

School is back in session. Summer vacation and traveling are over. That means one thing for our very young people.

BIBLE DRILL IS BACK!!!!!

Every Sunday from 4:30 to 4:50 pm (when Edwin is in town), bring your kids and grandkids to learn about God's Word. Through songs, memory verses, and games, Edwin helps our children learn the Bible story and biblical principles to help guide their little lives.

They will learn key verses from each book as they work their way through the entire Bible. Last year they learned Genesis 1:1 and Exodus 12:41. They are working on Leviticus 19:2 right now. Since we're doing a whole school year of Bible drill this time, we should get a lot further.

They'll learn songs that teach them about Bible stories like "A Little Story about Joseph," "Sodom and Gomorrah," "Noah was a Man of God."

They'll also learn songs that teach them interesting Bible facts like "The Books of the New Testament," "The Books of the Old Testament," "The Kings of Israel," "The Kings of Judah," and "The Hebrews 11 Song."

They'll learn songs that teach them biblical principles for spiritual living like "The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rock," "Oh Be Careful Little Eyes," and "What Shall We Do as a Growing Christian."

Of course, they'll get to sing Edwin's favorite song a lot–"The Irish Song." HEY!

They'll play learning games like, "Which Came First," "Old or New," and "Who Am I?". While they have fun with these games, the goal is to learn some basic lessons about the Bible and Bible characters.

I know, it's amazing, but all of this gets jammed into 20 minutes each Sunday evening. Don't let your kids miss it. In fact, you may not want to miss it. Our kids will be learning things that many of us still need to know.

Be there this Sunday at 4:30 PM, before our evening assembly.

The Gift of One Another Continues

According to Romans 12:3-8, God has endowed us all with differing gifts which allows us all to fill different functions and roles. What a gift! None of us has to do it all. But we do have our responsibility. Which causes each of us to ask, "What's my place?"

Edwin continues his series, "The Gift of One Another," this Sunday. Sunday at 10:30 AM he will examine "The Gift of Teaching" and then at 5:00 PM he will examine "The Gift of Exhortation."

Don't miss this inspiring look at your potential giftedness. Learn how God's grace has specifically impacted your abilities and passions. Then discover how you can use those gifts to fulfill your role in the body of Christ and in the local congregation.

God’s Amazing Plan to Redeem You on April 24

Don't miss our special lesson to be presented on April 24th at 10:30 AM.

God's Amazing Plan To Redeem You!

If you are thinking about attending with a church on Easter Sunday, we'd like to invite you to be our guest. We can promise you a warm welcome and an uplifting, Bible-based lesson that will point you to God.

This lesson will help you discover the big picture of the Bible, the greatest gift God has given, and what Christianity is really all about. You don't want to miss this exciting assembly.

See you then.

The Secret Messages of Stephen in Acts 7

You won't want to miss this exciting lesson on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Everyone is finding secret messages and hidden codes in the Bible. It's time for Edwin to get in on the act.

Don't miss this lesson as Edwin exposes two hidden messages found in Stephen's sermon in Acts 7.

Praying Like the Psalmists Continues this Sunday

We continue to deepen our understanding of prayer and our connection with God through prayer by looking at the psalms once again. This is the seventh part of our series, "Praying Like the Psalmists." However, I think this is the most important lesson on prayer from the Psalms.

Sunday, April 3, at 5:00 PM, we will study how to "Be Open, Candid, and Honest Like the Psalmists." If you want to dig deeper in prayer, you won't want to miss this study.

If you would like to catch up on the lessons you've missed, check out the previous six lessons.

“Pray on Purpose” this Sunday

You won't want to miss this Sunday morning's lesson. We are going to take a look at how to go a step deeper into our prayer lives. We want to make prayer more meaningful. I believe we accomplish that by making it more purposeful.

According to Luke 5:15-16, our Savior and Master purposefully prayed. This lesson will provide some practical insight into how we can be more like Him, especially when it comes to being a praying part of a congregation.

Don't miss it! Sunday, March 27, 10:30 AM

“Take the Actions of Love” this Sunday

Love is an action, not just an attitude. Sometimes we need to take these actions even when we don't have the best attitude. This Sunday, February 6, at 10:30 AM we will be opening God's word to discover when and how to take the actions of love as God's children. Remember, God is love. The more we learn to take these actions, the more like Him we'll become–and isn't that what life is all about?
